Willowgrove holds the wetlands and the slow water where the willows lean. It is a country of shifting channels, so the House learned early to read a change before it arrives.

The Viscountess's boatmen know every navigable turn in the marsh, which has made the family both indispensable and, in troubled seasons, quietly powerful.
